What is self-care? And why should I care?

Self-care can mean lots of things and it really is up to each individual person to decide the specifics. In a nutshell, Self-care is about taking care of yourself so that you can take care of others and conquer the tasks in your day with ease. For me, its running and exercising regularly, sometimes it’s taking a long hot bath in Epsom salt and essential oils. My absolute favorite way to care for myself is getting a massage. It’s not only a great way to treat my body, it’s a way of stress relief.

While it is not completely necessary to do my job correctly, I do my job the absolute best when I schedule a massage regularly. I feel whole, complete, rested, and full of energy.  I also feel that this carries over to other aspects of my life as I’m not in pain and therefore not easily agitated. I feel more calm and ready to take on the world. It’s easy to become disconnected with yourself and your body and project pain as anger.

Self-care is not a luxury, it’s a responsibility to allow yourself to receive love so that you can graciously give to others from your abundance.
